Total Arts Gallery opening
A two-man show featuring the works of internationally recognized artists Doug Dawson and Ken Elliott opens with a reception Saturday (June 26) from 5-7 p.m., at Total Arts Gallery, 122-A Kit Carson Road.
Dawson’s award-winning pastel work “favors urban night scenes, cityscapes, portraits and magical landscapes,” according to a press release, which also notes that Elliott “has devoted more than 20 years to his work in oils, pastels and collage.” The show runs through July 18.

Waxing lyrical
Taos artists Kelly Barrett, Sandra Lerner, and Paula Verona are among more than 20 artists showing in “Pollination-Encaustic Works from New Mexico,” at the City of Santa Fe Community Gallery, the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, 201 West Marcy Street. The public opening is Friday (June 25) from 5-7 p.m. The show runs through Aug. 20. Public parking is in the center’s garage, off South Federal Place. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Worman solo show
“Aerial Views: A New Perspective,” a solo exhibition of engaging work by Dinah Worman, opens with a reception Saturday (June 26) from 5-7 p.m. Saturday (June 26) at Act I Gallery, 218 Paseo del Pueblo Norte.
“Soaring above village and ranch scenes in Northern New Mexico has opened up unexpected feelings,” Worman says in a release. “To see life from above brings a peace and harmony to my life. Painting it has me contemplating the life and history of these ancient villages and landscapes.”
Worman and Grant Besley (the so-called, “Flyover” artist and pilot) will discuss their experiences in the air and visions from above on July 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the gallery. For more, call (575) 758-7831.
Book signing and minis
“Little Women,” an all-member show of miniature artworks, opens with a reception Saturday (June 26) from 4-7 p.m. at Las Comadres Women’s Cooperative Gallery, 228-A Paseo del Pueblo Norte.
“The women of Las Comadres have gathered together to illustrate small versions of their media,” a gallery release states. “These diminutive works of art represent a wide variety of media: Painting, photography, batiks, paper, metal, glass, fabric, and clay.” It will be on view through July 9.
Mosaic artist and writer Karen Kerschen also will sign copies of a new book she wrote and illustrated titled, “Violetta Parra, By the Whim of the Wind,” a biography of the musical folk hero of Chile. Call (575) 737-5323.
Sunday art tours
Join a museum guide at the Harwood Museum of Art for a free drop- in tour, starting Sunday, (June 27) at 1 p.m., and continuing each Sunday through September (the museum is closed July 4 for the national holiday). Learn about the museum collections and special exhibitions. The tour begins at the museum admission desk. No reservations are necessary and all ages are encouraged to attend.
